Honors Courses Overview
What are Honors Courses?
Honors courses are an opportunity for students to have a more in-depth, personal learning experience in smaller classes with great professors. Any student can sign up for an Honors course and benefit from the Honors experience in the classroom. Honors courses cover more material than the average course, and can go into more specific fields, from the Peloponnesian war to connections between markets and networks. Teachers will expect more from students in Honors courses, but in return students can expect to gain more from their professors and the course. The Honors Course Guide lists all of the Honors courses offered for each semester.
Honors Courses and GE
Many Honors courses fulfill the General Education requirements here at BYU. These courses provide a more challenging and in-depth alternative to completing the core requirements. A full list of all GE Honors courses can be found here.
Non-GE Honors Course
The Honors department offers Honors courses covering an interesting variety of different topics. In these classes, Professors and students can explore areas where they are passionate, be it Dostoevsky in translation or exploring Great Works in art. A list of these classes will be posted in the future, but can also be found on the Honors Course Guide.
